Event Description

Our monthly meetup seems to come faster and faster these days, right? On the heels of our awesome Twitter workshop, we'll have our general meetup.

Carla Kaiser had a pretty great idea for the next 'un:

"What if you changed the monthly feature to a "focus group" instead of a product pitch? This might allow more than one person to benefit from those minutes used at the meeting. You could have people email you with focus group topics, and then select the one you think is most useful to the group at that particular time.

The monthly focus could be on things that are relevant to more than one person, such as business card printing, resume design, getting your first website up and running, writing a decent press release, etc etc."

Sounds good, eh? Please list your ideas for focus group sessions below!

As always, BYOB and snacks.

Possible ideas for focus groups....finding your target audience; getting clear about your goals/objectives/focus; preparing to launch a business; how to find investors...

I know I'm new here, so apologize in advance if this won't work with your format...but here's a suggestion to build on Carla's idea:

What if you had a "best practices" focus group...basically ask the folks who have rsvp'd that they're coming (or might be coming) and ask them "what are some of the major challenges they're dealing with". Then when the group gets together, you could decide which 1 or 2 (or even 3 if you have the time) to discuss based on how many people they apply to...and if other people in the group have experience and can offer advice/best practices help.

i.e. Big challenges for me: finding US contract manufacturers (geez has everyone gone overseas); and the best way to sell or license technology.
On the other hand - I can offer advice/help on the patent process; finding a bank; business card and label printing; etc.

Anyway...its a thought...and hopefully its helpful to the group.
