Hey all .. In case you haven't seen it yet, here tis. There's a million things I'd change, of course, but for my first time on LIVE national tv ... getting interviewed by THAT GUY via teleprompter ... well, I'll take a partial win.
Hey guys. Sheesh, the things they don't tell you before you go on live national television!
So, I was super nervous about doing a segment on CNN for their Eatocracy segment. So much so that I didn't want to jinx it by mentioning it ahead of time.
But … today, Jimmy Carter did not die, so they put me on TV for a few seconds to talk about local foods.
Summer is almost over and we're all gearing up to get back in the groove of work, school, and gulp ... holiday season!
Lots of fun stuff going on in the land of LRBNers. Here goes!

NING, the software that powers the LRBN website, has announced that it is shifting to a pay-only model, meaning that free sites like ours will be eliminated. Hey, everyone's got to adjust in this economy - it's not an illogical move for the company. This shift is a great opportunity for us to transition into the next phase of LRBN online. We've been brainstorming a lot of different ideas over the years for how this community can grow, and the "eviction" from Ning is a great opportunity for us… Continue

So, did we make a good choice settling in Atlanta?
"Atlanta has been one of the biggest boomtowns of the past decade but, like other such places, its housing market has received such a severe drubbing that its future seems far less secure.
Atlanta added 1.13 million people from 2000 to 2008, more than any other in the country except Dallas. But from 2005 to 2009, the number of annual building permits fell by 66,352, the biggest decline in any metropolitan…
For those of you who couldn't make it, we divided the group into animal teams ... according to the sticker that we'd snuck onto their nametag. Around 60 (!) participants wrote their favorite marketing ideas on Valentines that were stuck to the wall ... and then when the time came, each animal group grabbed an idea from the wall and brainstormed how to make it work for each other's businesses.… Continue

Don't forget to peruse the guestlist for the Sam Flax meetup last week. I guarantee that these folks are friendly - they put their emails down specifically so you can contact them .. so please don't hesitate!
We have some good ideas for our meetups next year ... and we're always open to suggestions if you know of a great locale or have some ideas for meetups!
Hey all ... LRBN member Becky Striepe was featured in an ICE interview ... as one of the two longest-running participants in the the Indie Craft Experience, who is going full-time now with her business.
While we're still accepting responses to the LRBN anniversary survey, I put together a quick document with the first blush of answers to the questions: What have you gotten out of LRBN? What do you hope to get out of it?

We are heading into our one-year anniversary of the Lady Rogue Business Network, and we are proud to say that we're 230 members strong.
I think we're on to something with authentic, non-sucky networking. I think our members have a lot to offer each other. We'd like to develop a more robust model for LRBN that would create revenue for the people who contribute to it.
We have a lot of ideas brewing over at rogueApron HQ, and… Continue

Hey gang. As some of you know, I've recently made a life change and I'm going back to school full-time. Yikes, scary I know. I am trying to stay as active as I can with the Lady Rogue Business Network, rogueApron, and volunteering - you guys know how hard the juggling act is, especially when you're losing your steady income in favor of student loans!
With that in mind, and having had conversations with a few members, I've decided to start asking for a donation/cover for LRBN meetups.… Continue
Hey guys ... So here is the presentation from the Unsucky Twitter for Business Workshop the other night. As with most presentations, it lacks quite a bit outside of the context of the presentation and the following brainstorming discussion. If there's demand for it, I'd be happy to do a repeat of the session.…
